Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI)

Know Your Business

FDI is more than just an analytics application. It is your organisation’s central strategic hub.

Fusion Data Intelligence (FDI), previously known as Fusion Analytics Warehouse (FAW), is a cloud-based application, that provides deep analysis on data inputs from a set of Oracle Fusion Applications primarily, but with options to further widen the source data, which ultimately produces trusted statistical analysis of your whole organisation.

The list of Oracle Fusion Applications is currently:

  • Oracle ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) Analytics
  • Oracle HCM (Human Capital Management) Analytics
  • Oracle CX (Customer Experience) Analytics
  • Oracle SCM (Supply Chain Management) Analytics.

The trust, extensibility, security, performance, and ease of use, allows for FDI to be your single source of truth, and the location where actionable decisions are made.

As an award-winning Oracle Partner, Namos Solutions have the expert capabilities of fully managing a FDI implementation. From initial healthcheck and the creation of a roadmap, to custom analytics and secure integrations, Namos will work with you to create a reliable platform that works for you.

Intelligence Led Action

FDI is a SaaS-packaged content application comprised of Oracle products. This package includes Oracle Analytics Cloud, Autonomous Data Warehouse, Pre-built dashboards/KPIs/Metrics, and a series of secure integrations and connectivity to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

However, the real purpose of the platform is organisational understanding, and targeted, high-quality decision-making. This high-quality decision-making, derives from the exceptional organisational understanding, provided by FDI.

A clear, reliable view of the organisation is essential for decision-makers and anyone searching for operational improvements. No more debating about the quality of the original data, no more misleading information, FDI helps you work out what’s really going on and where improvements are needed.

Step 1 – Health Check

We recommend starting your analytics journey with a structured Health Check. We’ll take a deep dive into your existing data and data avenues and evaluate how these match-up with your strategic aspirations.

Ultimately, the purpose of this is to produce a Roadmap that details – your current analytics capabilities, your strategic intent, and the steps you’ll need to take to get there.

This is not a templated roadmap, it is tailored to you, your organisation’s capabilities, strategy and tools that are already in place. This could reveal quick-wins, training needs, or simply benefits realisation. It will give you a clear, achievable, and effective Roadmap that will guide you towards advanced analytics capabilities and successful data-driven decision making.

Improve Business Outcomes

What are the organisation’s long term aims? How do you plan to get there? How will you know if things are positive halfway through? How do you know you’re not missing quick-wins, or hidden obstacles?

FDI is your organisation’s strategic hub. All aspects of the organisation can be viewed from one integrated platform. And all of these aspects can be analysed in unique custom methods that suit your needs. True understanding is gained and used for decision-making. Ultimately, these steps work in conjunction to create strategic methodology centred around objectives, understanding and decision-making.

  • Objectives – Your objectives are an integral part of strategic planning. FDI can show which areas of the organisation need the most attention, shaping your strategic prioritisations. Dashboards can also be customised in a way that compliments your pre-existing strategic objectives.
  • Understanding – Accurate, reliable measurement is key in formulating a true understanding of any organisation. Reliable data coupled with a user-friendly interface is essential for the process of extracting understanding from raw data. FDI excels at precisely this requirement.
  • Decision-making – Decision-making is arguably the most important aspect of organisational strategic management. If this is done incorrectly, operations and resources can be funnelled down the wrong avenues and wasted. The best decision-makers in the world can only rely on gutfeel if they don’t have access to data and statistical understanding. This makes decisions harder to justify and this foundational inaccuracy ultimately means that decisions are misaligned with strategic objectives.

Trust is of paramount importance if anything is to be gained from statistical analysis. Accurate, up-to-date, reliable information forms the backbone of strategic decision-making, risk assessment and planning.

Far too many organisations rely on one-off, intricate spreadsheets, built by people that may not even be in the organisation any longer. Small formatting issues and breakages somewhere along the line can result in effectively unsolvable issues and incorrect conclusions. It’s even possible for these types of errors to occur, whilst no one notices for years. Certain datapoints may stay static simply because they are broken, potentially masking real problems.

These types of work processes cause distrust in the data. Which either leads to untrustworthy decisions, or no decisions at all.

This is where FDI comes in. Namos can build frameworks and integrations, with clear documentation, which adhere to top-tier security protocols and governed best practices. This can all be done, with real-time data which may even be outside your Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

As the organisation’s single source of truth, you are not just making decisions from data, you’re making informed decisions from trusted data.

FDI is your primary analytics tool, offering a comprehensive look into multiple facets of your organisation. In addition to this, Machine Learning (ML) enables predictive analytics, offering not only a 360 view of your organisation, but insights into what ‘has’ happened and what ‘may’ happen.

With this level of advanced performance usability is vital in order to maintain product utilisation. FDI includes easy-to-use custom reports and visualisations, built using voice commands. With Oracle’s intelligent Machine Learning, built into FDI, you can use voice commands to verbally ask questions, and receive rich text narrations that summarise the visuals created by the system. All of this is even available via your mobile phone.

Businesses are able to receive alerts from Oracle’s Machine Learning. For example, this could be a prediction of increase demand for a certain product, and you may not have appropriate stock levels to deal with the increased demand. FDI would have use statistical data from external, but integrated, sources to produce predicted sales and demand. This prediction is then cross referenced with internal stock data, and a decision to create and send an alert is made.

When this alert is received a bespoke report with visuals and a written summary is produced. From the ocean of data available to a business, the outlying most important data points are extracted, processed and then the meaning of this data is appropriately dealt with by FDI. The end result is that you are presented with just the decision-making task.

From this point, decisions about how to obtain extra stock or fulfil orders can be planned and simulated. This planning can encompass cost data, profitability, locations, timings and even ESG Data, so that carbon emissions, for example, can be part of the decision-making process.

Namos fully understands the nature of modern data and how raw data will come in a variety of formats and sources. This is why integrations are so important. FDI is able to integrate with a vast catalogue of well-known suppliers. External systems can also be connected to the primary Oracle ADW database.

Without a unifying central hub, businesses often find themselves toggling between different systems, struggling with incompatible formats, ad hoc spreadsheets, etc. FDI integrates data from across the Oracle suite.

This set up even allows for Cross-Functional analysis, where you can learn about how your finances relate to your people, or how your customer satisfaction relates to spend, etc.
Seamless integrations give a holistic view of the entire organisation, including 3rd party systems and unique set ups.

The Technology

FDI is a SaaS-packaged content application comprised of a set of Oracle Fusion Applications, which combine to create an intuitive, seamless, and reliable decision-making platform. The raw data is taken from the full suite of internal Oracle Applications and stored in Oracle’s World-class database, Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW).

The integration pipeline is set up and created between the Oracle Applications and ADW. The data is extracted via this Oracle managed pipeline and is readily available to interrogate via FDI. External sources of data can also be integrated into the same ADW.

Oracle Analytics Cloud is the analytics driving engine behind FDI. This is used to analyse the data and visualise the data via a series of pre-built, and custom built, visualisations/KPIs that survey the entire landscape of your organisation.

Security is of the same high standard as expected from Oracle. SSO can be set up for a seamless transition from your Oracle Fusion system into FDI. Furthermore, all security aspects can be customised such as Business Unit security.

These aren’t just pretty visuals. In order to create pre-configured reports, the raw data needs to be structured and segmented correctly, to deal with variations in queries and real-life scenarios. These structures include complex hierarchies which allow for efficient segmentation. In addition, industry standards are already inputted so that metrics like EBITDA is automatically calculated.

There are over 30 pre-configured reports, thousands of metrics, and hundreds of KPIs for ERP, EPM, HCM and SCM already populated in the software.

These Pre-Configured Reports mean that FDI is a true turn-key solution, as all of your data will be instantly visualised from day one, one thus enabling a 0 to data-driven-outcomes in a short span of time.

Oracle Analytics Cloud (OAC) sits at the heart of FDI. Connecting all the silos of your organisation to OAC, the system functions as the sole source of analysis. This improves the reliability and trustworthiness of the data. You get all the same features of OAC on offer from within FDI.

Oracle Analytics Cloud includes Machine Learning (ML) / Artificial Intelligence (AI), within a user-friendly environment. Data Analysis and visualisations can be created by using natural language queries. ‘No code’ and drag-and-drop functionality means that developers with a deep technical knowledge are no longer required for the creation of standard graphics.

The impressive Machine Learning capabilities built into OAC can conduct a number of helpful and productive tasks. Suggested analysis presented by ML functionality as well as the explain feature can assist in uncovering hidden trends that you may not have otherwise encountered. Machine Learning models can be trained on your existing data set, in order to make future predictions using various algorithms.

Impressive, minimalist visuals help users gain meaning from statistics. And this meaning is then used for business improvement.

The foundation for all of this analysis is Autonomous Data Warehouse (ADW). ADW is an award-winning, best-in-class cloud database. As the name suggests, Autonomous Data Warehouse has the exceptional quality of being able to maintain and manage itself. Data can simply be loaded into the system and the ‘tuning’ process is completed autonomously.

This autonomous nature reduces costs, speeds up implementations and reduces the risk of errors.

The performance of ADW cannot be overstated, with automatic backups, excellent security, and extremely high reliability ratings ADW serves as an excellent bedrock for FDI.

As well as world-class performance as standard, users can benefit from instant Elasticity, where the database usage can be scaled up and down depending on requirements, meaning that you only pay for what you need.

Data Pipelines are the connecting roadways between the Oracle Fusion Applications and FDI. Robust and flexible, these Pipelines are engineered not only for the smooth transfer of data between ADW and Oracle Fusion Applications, but further extensions to bring data from a wide range of external data sources is possible, via the OOTB connectors.

The frictionless flow of data is a vital element of FDI. Automations in these Pipelines can be set up for the collection, transformation and loading of data. The end result is a seamless, reliable, connected solution, that has the ability to present data in a timely manner, allowing for real-time decision making.

Security is governed by the same IAM products that are present on all Oracle Applications. The initial security setup to FDI is set up with a JWT token as a best practice. The specific security setup can vary from organisation to organisation and Oracle have published 6 likely Scenarios. Regardless of the scenario, FDI security can mirror the Oracle Fusion Application system, or can be completely different. It can be tailored to be as wide or as granular as per requirements.
