Training & Knowledge Transfer Services

There is a clear difference between training and knowledge transfer, and it mainly surrounds the amount of time and effort the customer organisation can release to the project. The more time and effort, the more knowledge transfer and less traditional training.

Both start with the Training Strategy which will determine the process to be followed. The training strategy is one of a group of core documents we produce for each project.

There is an assumption the project team members will be available to work with their Namos counterparts collaboratively in the required phases, to start and maintain a level of knowledge transfer that will provide true benefit when it comes to user training and first level support, nearer the end of the project.

By fully involving the team in the project planning stages we ensure that the ease of knowledge transfer is increased. Throughout the project, we provide advice, guidance and encourage the team to execute tasks themselves, leading to a practical hands-on approach to knowledge transfer.

  • Namos like to identify Super users as early as possible and engage with them during the process

Whether it’s a Cloud or an on-premise project, Namos work with our customers to set up a Project Steering Group and put in place streamlined governance procedures for the project which cover design decisions, risks and issues, change control and stage/phase transition which ensure successful delivery.

Namos provide a Project Manager as part of the implementation project and we also request a similar person to be provided from the client and the two will work in tandem, as we’ve found having a joint collaborative project team work provides the best results. Namos operate a hands-on implementation policy whereby we will work with the client during implementation and will be physically on site during the entire process. Namos Solutions do not off-shore any of the implementation project or any on-going service agreements.

Data Migration – the key to project success

Data Migration is key to project success and needs to be considered early in the project by the client team. It is often complex and time-consuming if not planned correctly and issues are not sorted early on. Lack of resource and time can cause Data Migration to delay projects, as it can be overlooked. With the right approach, the right tool and the right amount of time allocated to each cycle to get the process fine-tuned, it can be smooth-sailing.

Data Migration is also important from a data cleansing perspective – it forces client’s to take a close look at how they’ve been managing their data and their business processes, often kickstarting change in how they use their new system. Data cleansing as part of the Data Migration process is key to ensuring that high quality data is being migrated onto the new platform and as a result, instils a greater level of knowledge around what data clients have and how it should be managed efficiently, reducing the risk of ‘messy’ data down the line.

How can Namos help to make Data Migration smooth sailing

Namos’ Data Migration tool (eNcapture) will assist in the validation of extracted and transformed data prior to being supplied to Namos to load – identifying errors ‘all in one’ rather than the ‘one by one’ error returns given by HDL. This will reduce pressure on the client by reducing the number of client resources needed, reducing the time it takes to run through the data cycles, and reducing the risk on the project by automating the process. There are still the challenges mentioned above with regards to data quality and cleansing – but eNcapture will allow the ‘scope of the problem’ to be identified far earlier, allowing enough time to perform necessary cleansing activities and have a smooth Data Migration process proven before more important cycles later on (UAT, Cutover). 

eNcapture is scalable (so the amount of data is not an issue) and it also assists in providing structure in the process and bringing clarity to the transformation of data as team members can clearly see and understand how the data is being manipulated through each stage, reducing the steep learning curve.
