Meet The Hiring Manager: Sid Tripathy

Meet The Hiring Manager: Sid Tripathy

Our Technology practice has been thriving under our new Technology Practice Lead, Sid Tripathy. So this month, we’re sitting down with Sid to talk all things Oracle Technology!

Tell me about your role within Namos.

I’m the Technology Practice Lead at Namos. I’m responsible for all the technology and all the programs that are running in Namos right now. We work with an extended set of Oracle technologies, that include SaaS (Software as a Service) as well as PaaS (Platform as a Service). We’re also exposed to IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) for our clients.

Can you talk me through your previous experience?

I have around 18 years of experience in the industry. Prior to joining Namos, I worked at Deloitte, PWC and Oracle. I consider myself to be very fortunate to have worked for those organisations, as well as being fortunate to work in various countries. As well as my home country India, I’ve worked in China, the United States, and the Netherlands and now I’m in the UK. I started as a Java Developer in my early days, and that led me to become a System Analyst, before moving on to Oracle. I’ve worked in various capabilities, as an Integration Architect, a Lead Developer, and a Technical Lead at Oracle. At Deloitte, I worked in a more agnostic, integrated Solution Architect role. My subject matter of expertise in Integration. I like to get involved when the team is experiencing problems and solve them!

What led you to join Namos?

There’s no denying that Namos has been doing a fantastic job in the sector. Namos has a bright future after growing from a boutique consultancy to a mid-sized firm in record time. They remain one of Oracle’s key partners and are winning multi-pillar implementations, that have given us a pipeline for at least the next two years. I just knew I had to be a part of their success story and assist the executive leadership team in realising the company’s long-term vision for the company.

What do you love about working for Namos?

If I could sum it up in one word, it would be ‘people’. Sometimes it gets tough, but as the saying goes, when the going gets tough, the tough get going! I’m very fortunate to lead a set of superlative individuals within my team, all of whom have a great reputation within the company. I want to continue that legacy. Namos have invested a lot of time and effort in the Technical Innovation space, saving time and effort for the customer. That is key to what I do. It’s an exciting place, with exciting things are happening all around me. The leadership team are very supportive too – this is a company where the top executives pay attention to what you have to say. It always helps!

Talk me through the typical roles you recruit for within your team.

If you were to ask me what the red-hot roles for us are right now, I’d tell you that I’m looking for young professionals to join my team. The team itself is very young in terms of overall experience, but we’re looking for Associate Technical Developers with 2-3 years’ experience. If you have a background in Oracle Technology, and a willingness to learn, I would love to hear from you! This is an interesting opportunity, as you’ll be exposed to multiple technologies within the Oracle forum.

I’m also looking for a Business Intelligence (BI) Practice Lead, a really exciting opportunity. Oracle is investing in their BI strategy, with Oracle Analytics Cloud, Fusion Cloud etc. We’re looking for someone who is driven to lead our team to the next level.

We’re also looking for an Innovation Lead. I’ve already spoken about Namos investing in Innovation, and that is exactly what this role is. We want to invest in an individual who can think outside of the box, who is excited to take Namos to various conferences and present what we are doing, and how it is changing the world and the client experience. We are winning projects, and we need people!

As well as our current roles, I also look for people who have experience in the Data Migration space, as well as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Human Capital Management (HCM) Technical Consultants. Keep an eye on our social media postings and you’ll see more of these opportunities as they come in.

What qualities would make someone a good fit for your team?

Oracle Technology is extremely vast. We have streams dedicated to different areas, but the key quality I look for is adaptability. This will help you to move successfully across the different facets of technology, ensuring that you’re not limited to any one technology field. When you come out the other side, you’ll be a more complete individual who can speak to clients about a variety of topics and diverse technologies like Oracle Integration Cloud or BI Analytics. It’s not about saying, “Oh I only work on BI, so I’m not familiar with Data Migration”. That’s not what we’re looking for.

Which aspects of your work are you most passionate about?

I’ve been in consulting for almost 10 years now. Exposure to client problems, and consulting with a client on a regular basis is where it’s at for me. As a consultant you get exposed to different problems every other day. Sitting with stakeholders and thinking outside the box, thinking what is possible or what’s not possible. We sit down with stakeholders to resolve the problem – that’s important. A passionate team too, with passionate individuals.

Learning every day is one of the key outputs of every company I’ve worked for. Technology reinvents itself every day, so we need to learn every day too. That’s one of the key areas that I like.

What does the future look like for your team?

We are a Technology Consulting company, and Technology remains at the heart of what we do at Namos. If I were to sum it up in one word, that would be growth. Embracing the most cutting-edge technologies – artificial intelligence, machine learning – all are slowly making their way into Oracle technologies. Oracle is collaborating with Formula One and the Premier League on analytics, and the technology is growing more appealing to the younger generation. Oracle is no longer considered an old man’s technology by anyone! It’ll be cool in the future, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it and be among the first to break the mould!

What advice would you give to candidates starting out in the Oracle world?

I would recommend keeping an open mind. You can’t be judgmental. Come in and learn stuff! Cloud remains one of the key drivers into the next decade. At Namos we’re implementing Cloud projects one by one, and you’ll be at the forefront of the race.

Join us again next month, when we’ll be taking a look at the Namos Internal team with our HR Manager, Larissa Nieuwkoop!
