Day 6, 7 and 8
The last phase is already here! Where has the time gone? This section was where we actually got to use the system and try it out for ourselves. This session was led by Craig Roch, a Managing Consultant at de Novo Solutions. Poor Craig was losing his voice, but he somehow managed to keep it up for three days. He introduced us to the interface and how to navigate the software. At Namos we use Oracle’s HCM cloud applications for our own HR needs, so I was quite comfortable with the general layout and navigating the system. He then went on to describe enterprise and workforce structures which is a great way to realise why you are making changes rather than following step-by-step guides.
Graduation
Oracle hosted a virtual party so that we could all have a chat and reflect on what we had learnt throughout the course. They even sent us a gift box with snacks and alcohol free gin, so we had something to drink during work hours. I love the water bottle, it has a spinning sleeve so you can track how much you’ve drank, that can be for my real gin.
We were treated to a performance by the comedian Dominic Woodward, he said this was the earliest gig he had every done. It was 10:00 in the morning, but we were all in the mood for a laugh, so it wasn’t too painful for him.
He’s from Manchester so a lot of his jokes were based on the geography of Britain, which I enjoyed, but I’m not sure what the people from South Africa were thinking. He did a great job and kept us entertained for an hour, it was something different for a Friday morning.
